AQUATREKKING IN JORDAN
Trekking is the sport of walking on dry land. Aquatrekking involves a substantial amount of walking in water, through or along streams or small rivers.
This is a surprising activity in Jordan, a country that is largely desert. However, by a quirk of geography there are many wadis or canyons in Jordan that run from East to West, from the mountain range of up to 1700 meters in height to 400 meters below sea level in the Jordan Rift Valley. Many of these wadis have perennial springs and hot springs that feed streams or small rivers.
The result is spectacular narrow canyons with steep sides rising tens of meters up, with hanging vegetation and palm tree gardens.
We have developed some trips that involve walking in these spectacular wadis or canyons. With Aquatrekking we chose routes that avoid the need for ropes or rappelling and hence have opened them to a wider range of active holidaymakers. We invite you to join us to explore these largely unknown scenes of paradise.
