The Middle East is quite simply extraordinary, one of the world's most fascinating and rewarding travel destinations.
The Middle East is home to some of the world's most significant cities - Jerusalem, Beirut, Amman and Damascus. The ruins of the once similarly epic cities of history - Petra, Palmyra, Baalbek and Jerash - also mark the passage of centuries in a region where the ancient world lives and breathes.
The landscapes of the region are equally spellbinding, from the unrivalled seas of sand dunes in Jordan's Wadi Rum desert to the stunning mountains of the north and the underwater world of the Red Sea.
Jordan is an ideal destination for family tours. It offers something for all ages whether it is walking in wadis with hot springs and streams; camel and horse riding in the desert; camping with Bedouins; climbing sand dunes; visiting historical sites and much more.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
captivates many travelers. Today, this modern but exotic nation is attracting a new generation of visitors.
From the fantastic landscapes of Wadi Rum and timeless splendor of the Dead Sea; to the ancient ruins and
civilization of Petra and the urban capital of Amman, Jordan is a highly desirable destination. With its
mysterious sites, spectacular scenery, hotels of quality, and its innumerable possibilities for adventure
and activity, Jordan is able to inspire, motivate and rejuvenate visitors.
Jerusalem is a holy city to three religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), whilst being the modern capital of the State of Israel and the country`s largest city. The City of Gold is a fascinatingly unique place where the first century rubs shoulders with the twenty-first century, each jostling for legitimacy and space, and where picturesque "old" neighborhoods nestle against glistening office towers and high-rise apartments.
The Syrian Arab Republic revels in its antiquity, having been inhabited for tens of thousands of years - and in the variation and cultural riches that such antiquity has brought it. This is a country that preserves scores of relics documenting the rise and fall of different civilizations and which continues to welcome such diversity.
Sitting at the crossroads of two continents, this country has a little of everything. Its capital, San'a, is not only incredibly romantic and intriguing, but holds the distinction of being the world's oldest city. Meanwhile, the extraordinary island of Suqutra (off the coast of Eastern Yemen) is reputed to hold the secret of eternal life somewhere amongst its unique flora and fauna.. Then there's the Wadi Hadramawt oasis where you can't help but get caught up in the mythical magic of it all, and Zabid - Unesco World Heritage site and the hottest city on earth.
Trekking is the sport of walking on dry land. Aquatrekking involves a substantial amount of walking in water, through or along streams or small rivers. This is a surprising activity in Jordan, a country that is largely desert. However, by a quirk of geography there are many wadis or canyons in Jordan that run from East to West, from the mountain range of up to 1700 meters in height to 400 meters below sea level in the Jordan Rift Valley. Many of these wadis have perennial springs and hot springs that feed streams or small rivers.
Middle East offers many opportunities for hiking.
One of the most famous walking area is Petra, where most tourists spend one day only, though we recommend at least three days to explore it thoroughly. There is also the desert moon-scape of Wadi Rum with sandstone cliffs rising straight up out of the desert sands.
We arrange walking trips in Wadi Rum from one to five days, spending plenty of time with the local Bedouins who are also our guides and provide logistical support. We also arrange walking trips in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.
Aqaba is Jordan’s outlet to the sea and offers all that you would expect from the Red Sea: bright corals, colourful fish, boat trips, windsurfing, etc. For diving there, is the range of diving courses and dives from the shore or by boat. There are excellent possibilities of combing diving with visits to the spectacular sites nearby, such as Petra and Wadi Rum, or further afield.
Jordan offers dream landscapes for the paraglider. The sport of paragliding is new to this country; however Jordan offers incredible spots overlooking the sites of Petra or Wadi Rum. Come and visit this country by air!
Pedal across dramatic scenery on mountain bikes while visiting spectacular sites and experiencing the local culture.
See inside the villages and landscapes and be immersed in the history of the region.
Programs can combine numerous historical and natural sites with on road or off road mountain biking in the wilderness for a period of several days to two weeks.
Jordan is full of spectacular canyons bursting with oases, hanging gardens, hot springs and perennial streams hidden in the desert landscape. Our program explores canyons of the Dead Sea Rift. The terrain is varied. You could jump into cool pools of water, bathe in hot springs, swim through narrow rock passages, and boulder over rocks all in one day. The vegetation and wildlife is also quite spectacular with palm trees and bright pink oleander bushes.
Enjoy horse riding in some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. In Wadi Rum you can ride in the desert terrain through the sandstone mountains and giant basalt fortresses.
Another traditional way of transport in the areas is by camel. The camel is part of the Jordanian heritage; it is called the ship of the desert.
Whether by horse or camel, either are wonderful ways to experience the marvellous landscapes of Jordan.
